Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Ultra-portable

The Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Ultra-portable is considered to be an upgrade from its older models the FreeAgent GoFlex Pro in which the amount of storage is 1.5 terabyte which makes it one of the largest external HDD for a single volume. The drive system is also the first of the GoFlex series that has USB 3.0 support. Other feature of this external HDD includes super flexible design of its adapter which allows it to instantly change the connection type it supports.

The design of the Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Ultra-portable is:

  • Connector options: eSATA, USB 2.0, USB 3.0, FireWire 800
  • Weight: .62 pounds
  • Capacity available: 1.5 terabyte
  • Test unit capacity: 1.5 terabyte
  • Supported OSes: Microsoft Windows (Vista, 7, XP), Mac OS 10.4.6 or higher
  • Software Included: Memeo Instant Backup

The physical appearance of this external HDD is exactly the same with GoFlex Pro, another model of external HDD. Although with exact same appearance, it has two new improvements that are far better than the compared said model. The first and noticeable feature is the capacity to store which is 1.5 terabyte. The other was only one terabyte. Secondly which is included is the USB 3.0 adapter. Even if the other model supports the USB 3.0 system, and has USB 2.0, upgrading for a USB 3.0 will cost more money.

The Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Ultra-portable provides users with great flexibility and very large amount for its storage. It works perfectly in different OSes, without having to worry about reformatting them to support the OS itself.

The performance of the USB 3.0 of this model could get a little better if it is a given. Another disadvantage of this model is that there is the absence of an add-in card for USB 3.0 which can be a pretty disadvantage for computers that do not have this kind of connection.
