These days everyone is talking about SSD or Solid state drives. SSD is much faster than Platter Hard Disk, silent and much more efficient. On The same time they complicated to maintain as well. Not All OS support the TRIM or Garbage Collection which is basically responsible for optimum usage of speed and Performance they have. If you purchased a SSD and you install it with and OS which does not support either of these you won’t be able to see significant performance improvement. and More time you keep your Computer On performance will keep coming down making it at par with IDE or SATA drive.

How To Manually Remove Hard Drives

Hard drives can be removed manually by carefully following the instruction manual provided by hard drive manufacturers. A hard drive is removed when it needs to be repaired or replaced. Its important to follow instructions as rough handling can damage the equipment and nullify its warranty.

The only tools required for this procedure are a couple of screwdrivers. The first step involves shutting down the computer and switching off power supply. This is done to avoid damage to the internal components of a computer. After this, all the external cords and covers are removed and left as it is for 5 to 10 minutes to allow components to cool down.

A human body generates static electricity, which should be discharged before touching any component of the computer. Touching any metal object discharges static electricity from the body. First, the air deflector is removed and kept on a clean cloth. Then the drive data cable and power cable is disconnected from the hard drive and the drive is pulled out from the drive bay. It is important not to touch the bottom of the drive as the printed circuit board (PCB) may get damaged.

Wiping your Hard Drive

WipeDrive Many people believe that simply by deleting a file that it is gone forever. On top of that many others believe that uninstalling and reinstalling your operating system the files have been permanently deleted from the hard drive, but neither of these methods actually wipe the hard drive completely, information stays on the drive and can be recovered in some way at some point in the future.

The only actual way to wipe a hard drive is to replace that information with lots of other information, like recording over a tape with something else. The previous information will be gone forever, totally wiped.

There are pieces of software that can do this for you. The process itself is can be natural in the sense that over a 5 year period, the information from 5 years ago could be wiped through the fact the computer has been used a lot over that time and has replaced that particular information, but this is never guaranteed.

The software I am going to suggest is through my own personal experience and does work very well. On top of that it is easy to use and will do the job properly first time.
